Yes, Differin is commonly used for treatment of acne, especially for black and white heads. Some people may get mild irritation when first use it, may want to go slow with it. Hope this help.
Hi Acne Rx, seem you know a fair bit about Differin. R u an user? I want to find out more. I have acne since my army days for 10+ years. Use Retin A for a long time, but I think this medication give alot of skin irritiation, I get red and flush face when I go for sports. Read from internet that both are vitamin A so what are the differences? If Differin is better, I want to switch brand already.
Hi Fulin, I think they are chemically different, although belong to the same grouping. Used Differin before, quite OK, occasionally can still get peeling. I think there is a cream form which is even less drying. Hope this help.
What I understand from my Doctor is that the key difference between Differin and Retin-A is the tendency to cause irritation. It appears that Differin has the same effect on the pimples, but causes less skin problem like redness, peeling etc.
Further, if you find the gel form a little drying, you may opt for the Cream form which has even lesser tendency to cause skin irritation.
For myself, I never use Retin before as my doctor chose and recommended Differin straight-away for me. It has served me well so far....................lucky..........
